Thank you for taking the time to serve as a delegate. I feel it's important to vet the candidates thoroughly. As I have not seen candidate town-halls, or any debates and with feedback from others that they haven't heard enough from candidates, I felt it important we do something. I put together a questionnaire asking candidates to answer questions. This was sent out last night and they were given until tonight to respond. I understand this is short notice and I also sent out reminder emails and texts to try and get everyone to respond who could. If I receive any responses tomorrow, I will make sure to add those to this link, which will automatically update them (google drive), so maybe check the link again later on tomorrow and see if anybody else has responded as well.
If a candidates missing, that means have not yet received their response.
I hope this is helpful in learning more about the candidates and helping you make an informed vote on Saturday.
Congratulations on your selection as a delegate/precinct chair/vice chair to our county nominating convention this year. We appreciate your willingness to serve and the confidence your precinct neighbors have shown in selecting you to represent them.
The 2016 Iron County Republican Nominating Convention will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 16th in the Canyon View Middle School, Cedar City. (USPS notice was already mailed post marked 2 weeks ahead)
The Central Committee will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16th in the Canyon View Middle School, Cedar City. (USPS notice was already mailed post marked 2 weeks ahead)
In order to be seated as a delegate/central committee member and be eligible to vote, you will need to be identified at the credentials desk at the main entrance to the Lunchroom. Please bring a picture identification form such as your driver’s license to be credentialed. Check-in will begin at 12:00 PM for the convention or 9:30 AM for the central committee meeting. State delegate position from the Modena Precinct is unfulfilled and
we have been unable to find anyone residing in the precinct
boundaries willing to accept the assignment. Therefore, as in years
past, we will hold an election for the position as part of our County
an effort to minimize the effect of this election on the length of
the convention the executive committee will accept nominations for
this seat from any duly elected county delegate for this convention.
Each county delegate may only nominate one candidate. Once a
nomination has been submitted to the Executive Committee by a county
delegate that delegate cannot withdraw his/her nomination.
nominations must be submitted in writing to a member of the county
executive committee by 6pm April 13th, 2016.
Executive committee will then tally the nominations and put the top
three candidates on the ballot for county convention. In the result
of a tie the decision will be made by a coin toss.
The coming year promises to be one of great interest, challenges, healthy debate, entertaining and informative conventions and real politics. Please let us, the Executive Committee, know of your interest in meeting our goal of advocating and protecting our Utah Caucus system and interest and participation in that process. We will have several events to put on and will need lots of help. Let us know if you want to volunteer. We look forward to the coming year.
