Vacant State Delegate Election

The State delegate position from the Modena Precinct is unfulfilled and we have been unable to find anyone residing in the precinct boundaries willing to accept the assignment. Therefore, as in years past, we will hold an election for the position as part of our County Convention.

In an effort to minimize the effect of this election on the length of the convention the executive committee will accept nominations for this seat from any duly elected county delegate for this convention. Each county delegate may only nominate one candidate. Once a nomination has been submitted to the Executive Committee by a county delegate that delegate cannot withdraw his/her nomination.

All nominations must be submitted in writing to a member of the county executive committee by 6pm April 13th, 2016.

The Executive committee will then tally the nominations and put the top three candidates on the ballot for county convention. In the result of a tie the decision will be made by a coin toss.

Midterm Vacancy of County Commissioner

Commissioner David Miller resigned Friday, March 25, 2016. Therefore an interim commissioner will be selected by the Iron County Republican Party Central Committee.  This committee is comprised of the Iron County Executive Committee, the 2 At-Large State Central Committee Delegates, the newly elected Precinct Chairs and Vice Chairs as well as elected Iron County officials who are registered Republicans.

According to state law referenced below we have 30 days from the official notice to submit the name of an interim commissioner who will serve until January 2017. I received official notice of the vacancy on Friday March 25, 2016. The interim appointment deadline therefore is Sunday April 24,  2016.
